Valeria Secchi (known as Valeria Vavoom) was born in Sassari, where she graduated in Philosophy with a thesis on the ontological definition of the artwork in the philosophies of Arthur Danto and Plato. She then continues her artistic education at the Berlin Art Institute (Berlin, Germany), where she has the opportunity to engage with both the local and international art scene. She exhibited her early projects in Sardinia (Sardegna Contemporanea, MAN Museum of Art, Nuoro, 2017). Then she collaborated with galleries and curators across Italy and Europe (FUORI USO, Avviso di Garanzia, Ex Tribunale Piazza Alessandrini, Pescara, 2016, Ethereal, a Daily Poetry, Galerie Joseph PARIS, Paris, 2019). In 2020, Valeria moved to Berlin, where she continued working with curators and international cultural associations. Her work has been exhibited at the Liquida Photo Festival (Turin, 2024), Tartu Kunstimaja (Estonia, 2024), and Fotogalerie Friedrichshain (Berlin, 2022), and has been included in publications such as Il Corpo Solitario vol. III by G. Bonomi and 222 ARTISTI EMERGENTI SU CUI INVESTIRE EDIZIONE 2021 by C. Selvaggi and S. Conta, published by Exibart. Throughout her artistic career, she has received awards such as the APULIA PRIZE (2021) and the BEST 15 PRIZE at Paratissima Art Fair (2019). She also conducts workshops and seminars on visual arts and philosophy. In 2024, her work The Victim was chosen as the cover art for V. Montebello’s book Succede di notte, published by Feltrinelli. With references to comics, animation, pop culture, and cinema, Valeria creates characters caught between the comic and the tragic, in conflict with a dominant model, whether aesthetic, political, or social.
